PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja was founded in Palembang, South Sumatra, on the 24th of December 1959 and is the first urea fertilizer factory in Indonesia

Inauguration of the first pile by President Soekarno
Pusri I factory started operating with an installed capacity of 100,000 tons per year
Inauguration of the Pusri I Factory by Deputy Prime Minister III, Mr. Chairul Saleh. According to Government Regulation No. 20 of 1961, PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja also became a state company this year.
Contract Signing of Pusri II Factory Construction
Pusri is building a third Urea Fertilizer Factory, Pusri III, with an installed capacity of 570,000 tons per year. Pusri III factory was inaugurated by President Soeharto on the 29th of December 1976,
The Fourth Urea Fertilizer Factory, Pusri IV Factory was inaugurated by President Soeharto on the 26th of November 1977. Pusri IV Factory has an installed capacity of 570,000 tons per year.
Head Office relocation from Jakarta to Palembang

Construction of the Pusri 1B Factory
President Soeharto inaugurated the Pusri IB Factory on December 22, 1994, using a computerized distributed control system with an installed capacity of 570,000 tons.
The government has appointed PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja (Persero) as the holding company that oversees four SOEs engaged in the fertilizer and petrochemical industries. Those name are PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pupuk Kujang Cikampek, PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda Aceh, and PT Pupuk Kaltim Bontang.
Pusri added one more subsidiary, PT Mega Eltra, which is responsible for trading. Also this year, the government removed subsidies and trading systems for all types of fertilizers.
